SUMMARY:QUBITS and BEYOND A Hands-on Training Program on Quantum Computing: Concepts\, Tools and Applications
DESCRIPTION:Title\nQUBITS & BEYOND\nA Hands-on Training Program on Quantum Computing: Concepts\, Tools and Applications \n\nEvent Information\n\nStart Date:04/16/2026\nEnd Date:04/19/2026\nMode of Conduct: Offline\nVenue: Kuttikkanam\, Peermade Keralam 685531\n\n\nAbout the Institution\nLaunched in 2020 under Mahatma Gandhi University\, Marian College’s Department of Physics offers Kerala’s pioneering five-year Integrated MSc Programme in Basic Sciences-Physics (BSc + MSc) in the aided sector. The curriculum provides a robust foundation in core areas like Classical and Quantum Mechanics\, while also delving into emerging fields such as Quantum Nanostructures and\, uniquely\, Machine Learning with Python. With a strong. research-driven approach\, the programme features major\, minor and summer research projects\, industrial and research internships. Graduates are exceptionally well-prepared for PhD programmes\, national competitive exams like CSIR-NET and GATE\, and careers in R&D and IT\, making them future leaders in Physics and technology. \nABOUT THE COLLEGE \nMarian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous)\, established in 1995 by the Catholic Diocese of Kanjirapally\, provides quality higher education in Idukki’s hill district. Located in the Western Ghats\, it offers job-oriented\, technology-integrated programs. The college has consistently excelled in NAAC accreditation\, earning an A++ grade (CGPA 3\,71) in 2023. It holds CPE status\, gained autonomy in 2016\, and was ranked in 101 to 150 band in NIRF 2025 and also 7th in KIRF ranking 2025. With international academic collaborations\, Marian focuses on holistic student transformation and academic excellence. \n\nAbout the Event\nQubits and Beyond” is a short-term workshop designed to introduce participants to the exciting and rapidly evolving field of Quantum Computing. This program offers a blend of theoretical foundations and hands-on practice. It will guide attendees through the core principles of quantum mechanics\, the mathematics of quantum states\, and the architecture of quantum circuits. Key topics include qubits\, superposition\, entanglement\, and quantum gates. The workshop also features a practical component using Qiskit\, enabling participants to write and simulate quantum algorithms. Ideal for students and faculty\, this workshop aims to build a strong foundational understanding of how quantum computing works and its potential to shape the future \n\nHighlights/Themes\nOBJECTIVES: \n\nIntroduce fundamentals of quantum computation\nHands-on experience using quantum computing platforms (e.g.\, Qiskit).\nBridge the gap between theoretical quantum mechanics and real-world quantum algorithms.\nEncourage faculty and students to initiate teaching\, projects\, and research in quantum computing.\n\nEXPECTED OUTCOMES \n\nEnhanced understanding of quantum computing fundamentals.\nPractical exposure to quantum programming environments.\nImproved teaching and curriculum enrichment in emerging physics areas.\nMotivation for student projects\, seminars\, and future research collaborations.\n\nTOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED \n\nIntroduction to quantum computing\nFundamentals of Classical Computing\nLinear Algebra for Quantum Computing\nQuantum Postulates\nOne Qubit System\nRepresentation of Qubits on the Bloch Sphere\nMeasurement of Qubits\nTwo and Multi-Qubit Systems\nEntanglement\nNo-Cloning Theorem\nBasic Quantum Gates\nUniversal Quantum Gates\nQuantum Circuits\nQuantum Teleportation\nPopular Quantum Algorithms\nApplication of Qiskit to Quantum Algorithms\n\n\nSchedule Overview\nThe session starts at 9.00AM everyday and ends with lunch at 1.40PM. \n\nList of Speakers\nProf. Bijay Kumar Agrawal (Senior Professor) \nSaha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) \n\nRegistration and Payment Details\n\nExternal Faculties: ₹2000.00\nExternal Research Scholars: ₹1500.00\nExternal Postgraduate students: ₹750.00\n\n\nContact:\n\nName: Nicemon Thomas\nEmail: nicemon.thomas@mariancollege.org\nPhone:9400037037\nWebsite:https://e.mariancollehttps://e.mariancollege.org/events/8mkv2yge.org/events/8mkv2y\nAddress: Kuttikkanam\, Peermade Keralam 685531
