Teacher’s Day Celebration to Honor Their Impact on Society
On this Teacher’s Day, 5 September 2024, let’s take a moment to reflect on the profound impact teachers have on shaping lives. Below based on my experiences being a teacher and student, I have listed a collection of quotes that express gratitude, respect, and admiration for the selfless work of teachers.
Why Teacher’s day?
Before a teacher, every person is a student—a learner, or rather, a lifelong learner. Teaching in a school may be a job or a profession, but the role of a teacher goes far beyond that. Every teacher, regardless of age, feels this, lives it, and finds joy in it.
When a student looks at their teacher, they aspire to become like them. When a teacher looks at their student, they see the potential to shape them into a great human being. In this process of shaping, a teacher may sometimes use force, just like a sculptor molds clay, to ensure the student becomes resilient in any situation. Yet, students may sometimes misunderstand this and view the teacher’s actions differently.
Teachers, at times, become highly disciplined, delivering lessons in a structured and systematic way. Other times, they play with students, forgetting the age gap. Sometimes, a teacher acts like a father, controlling a student’s habits, while at other times, they become like a mother, offering kind and unconditional love.
A teacher is never truly angry at heart, even if a troubled student tries to harm or hurt them. From the bottom of their heart, a teacher can never wish anything bad for their students. This bond between a teacher and student is incredibly strong in Indian culture, and schools celebrate this relationship through various events on this day.
In India, Teacher’s Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the former President of India, who was also a renowned teacher and philosopher.
Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan
Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (September 5, 1888 – April 17, 1975) was a distinguished Indian philosopher, statesman, and politician who played a key role in shaping modern India. He served as the nation’s second president from 1962 to 1967, following his tenure as the first vice president from 1952 to 1962. Before that, he represented India as its second ambassador to the Soviet Union from 1949 to 1952. In recognition of his immense contributions to the country, he was honored with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, in 1954

Personal Reflections
As we celebrate Teacher’s Day, I’m reminded of the many lessons taught both inside and outside the classroom. The influence of teachers transcends the subjects they teach, leaving a lasting imprint on our lives. In today’s fast-paced world, the role of teachers is evolving, but their importance remains as significant as ever.
Like me, you also feel the lasting presence of your teachers in your life. They show love, express anger, instill discipline, and smile as they watch us grow and succeed. They share in our laughter and celebrate our achievements, guiding us every step of the way.
