Chitkara University Publications is an Open Access Initiative of the Chitkara University. Since its inception, i.e. 2013 all research publications have been published with a CC-BY license, all right to the author(s), and no article processing/publishing charges (No APCs). All journals are platinum open access and available in both ways online & offline. Researchers can recommend the concerned journal to their institutional library free of cost.
Publications’ Importance Before and After Ph.D.
It’s a very clear vision to establish the Chitkara University Publications that all research articles/information should be freely available to all concerned people of the knowledge society. In addition, systematic technical developments and professional memberships are improving the purpose successfully.
As a member of the United Nations SDGs Publisher Compact, we are trying, how to develop an ecosystem in publishing while also achieving the SDGs for mankind. In this process, we had started the ‘Chitkara University Publications Lectures Series’ to disseminate the knowledge and information from pure to applied research. Not limited to the traditional research awareness but it also includes publishing processes and practices at both the ends of author and journal publisher, editor, reviewers.
Today i.e. 07/10/2021 at 11:00 AM Chitkara University Publications held their 9th lecture, which focused on Ph. D. scholar’s works’ contribution to the scientific community and society.
The usefulness of Ph.D.
Dr. Sushil Kumar, Deputy Dean Journals & Publications moderated the session and shared the University’s Press success and potential milestones. After his short presentation, Dr.Archana Mantri, Vice-Chancellor Chitkara University, Punjab welcomed the guest speaker and shared about the Chitkara University achievements, incubation centers, research labs, and their scientific contributions, grants, etc.
In this session, more than 140 participants had participated from different institutions. The presentation matter was pertinent to the current research scenario. Dr. S. K. Varshneyis a well-known Scientist, Adviser, and Head of International Cooperation in the Government of India’s Department of Science and Technology. The title of his presentation was “USEFULNESS OF Ph.D.”, where he effectively discussed and pointed out many things. Some of his presentation’s highlights include:
- Reason to do the Ph.D. a research degree
- Short or long terms objectives of the research
- Satisfaction with the research work
- Career options
- Real-life examples
- Challenges faced by the researchers
- Publication ethics
- Challenges to the country and their solutions
- Branding of the research work
- How research contributes to the individual’s life
- DST support to the researchers
After the presentation, the platform was opened for discussion and questions. Dr. Rajnish Sharma, Dean of Research & Development thanked the speaker and shared his views on the role of the library in academics. A researcher, Mr. Ashutosh Pandey of Yonsei University in South Korea, and another scholar, Ms. Karthika of Bharathiar University in Tamilnadu, posed their questions. Ms. Mehak Garg a scholar put the idea in favor of the importance of physical library.
In this way, today’s lecture concluded, which covered several aspects related to the Ph.D. degree. Dr. Manoj Manuja, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Chitkara University Himachal Pradesh, summed up the talk and gave his vote of thanks to the speaker as well as the audience for their time.
