Last updated on Wednesday, October 21st, 2020

In the last post “article writing format”, we had discussed the Title, Abstract, and Keywords in the research paper. This article writing format post briefly covers the research problem and explains the significance of each term and tells the steps in systematic ways. In this article, you will get some important information about the Introduction of a research paper.

Research Problem Quality Steps

When a research scholar defines the research problem objectives, he/she knows the historical background of the work. This historical development he quotes in their research findings at the right places to make results authentic and clear to everyone.  A good researcher always keep eyes open and observe the applications and role of the problem. One should observe the problem from a multidisciplinary point of view. What developments are available in genuine literature sources related to the work. The purpose of genuine literature means here is that you are aware of the quality research papers from reputed journals.

Keep all relevant research papers year wise in a folder. So that you can use them accordingly in the introduction of the research paper. This will help you to cite your results and concepts in the development of your research problem objectives.

Multidisciplinary Research Problem Approaches

Use always a multidisciplinary approach in your research work. How your work is compatible with other scientific approaches, observe, and share it with similar field experts. A sincere and regular researcher can find the solutions. Your research article (s) must cite your own results or approaches, if relevant to the other field of research works. It will help you in terms of providing a link to your research work with other fields and one stream journal to the other disciplines.

How to Write the Introduction of a Research Paper?

In the introduction, first of all, you should provide information about, how progress started related to your research objectives (year-wise, by cited research papers), and you have to cite only the first sources. What my mean to point out the “first sources” here? Actually, some research scholars read lower category journals and their articles. These authors most of the time inspired by the second category authors those who also remain inspired by the work of first categories Authors (those who gave the idea). So, it remains to continue if the research area is so active. One research scholar has to be very careful when they are citing the sources, make sure it should be a primary source.

Credits to the Original Source of Research

In this way, you have given the credits to the original source for that particular idea. The “idea” matters, here you had calculated the values or observed the data in all cases you are going to give some conclusion for those specific objectives. That summary of the article is your idea. It is yours, so if one uses this idea or gets inspired by the idea he/she must mention that particular source.

So, in the primary paragraph of the introduction, you told how the foundation is kept for this research objective.  In the second paragraph, you can mention how many different approaches are used. And the drawback if any with proper first source citations.

The third paragraph may cover your approach to the research problem objectives. How it will be helpful to resolve the problem? Keep only your own relevant and limited 3-5 sources in favor of your research work, not more.

As I have mentioned in earlier posts that you can see below that your research keyword matter for the search engines. So use your keywords in the introduction. Effective Keywords are the perfect route of a research paper for the search engines

By using the authentic resources you may also avoid plagiarism from your research articles. One of the main reasons for it is not providing the credits to the original source. For the plagiarism in the research paper, we will discuss it in the next post.

Conclusion Introduction of Research Problem

In the conclusion, it is important to start the introduction with the foundation of the research ideas used in your research objective.

  1. Credits to the first and original sources
  2. Inclusions of other research models and experimental techniques to your research area
  3. Using the research keywords that are more searchable with reasonable frequency
  4. How you carried out this problem and in the support of your approach your own cited article 3-5 at the max.
  5. Three to four average paragraphs (~ total 700 to 800 words)
