Role of Abstract in Article Writing

Components of the abstract

You should mention the purpose of the problem, and its significance, what problem it will resolve? You can use at max 3 sentences for this purpose, ideally, it should complete in 2 sentences.

Methodology

What approach you have used to observe the results and how these results are similar to earlier study or different with some new scope of future study.

Results

You don’t need to explain all the results here but mention the main findings from your results that will contribute to this article.

Future scope of the work

If possible write about the future scope of this outcome.

SO in this way you write effectively 10-14 sentences for the abstract of your work. If each sentence contains 15 to 20 words in each sentence then it will be 2oo to 250 words effectively.

As such, there are no limitations to the words but one has to be very specific to write the abstract precisely.

Keywords in Research Paper

In general 3-5 keywords, one has to use to make specify the article. Most of the researchers use the keywords which are used by the seniors or the words that relate to the primary area of research, any specific model or methodology, experimental techniques, etc.

Traditional researchers use these keywords, just to make a part of the article without understanding the importance and significance. They are not aware;

  1. Use of keyword in the title
  2. How many times a particular (high volume or quality keyword) keyword has to use in the abstract and how many keywords?
  3. The same is true for the introduction
  4. No idea about the one word, two words, or more words keywords (long-tail keywords use)

You may be aware of the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) process for the website ranking in the different search engines. Keywords are one of the important parameters to optimize digital content.

You might be thinking about how the search engine is related to your research article?

Dear friend all the indexers usually collect metadata of your research article (s). Metadata means the title, your name, affiliation, about the journal, its volume, issue, date of publications, journal-publisher names, abstract, keywords, and references.

You may have seen on the publisher’s website for a specific journal, which provides content after the payment provides only the above data. But this metadata remains there in almost all cases.

So now what is important in article writing format?

See every publisher knows that from which keywords researchers are searching a specific article, and they can judge the traffic also. So after such observations, they create a keywords database and suggest to the authors to use it in their papers. But this is not a compulsory requirement author can use their own keywords which are maintained by the author itself.

The publisher provides a single webpage to each article on the journal website, where all metadata information remains available.  How this page comes into the search engine for specific keywords that matter actually.

How to optimize a research article?

So a paper that is optimized perfectly with the help of active keywords,  there will be more chances that when one will search a specific keyword your article appears there.  Hence, if you are searchable most probably your readers will also increase, and as a result your citations.
